Trivium perform 'In Waves' live from Chapman Studios

I've got such a fucked up 'relationship' (for want of a better word) with this band. I always fob them off as just another metalcore band, and always have since I first heard them. But then every now and then I see shit like this and think fuck... they're actually really good at what they do. I think I need to give their back catalogue another chance...

Also, there are some more of these "live from Chapman Studios" vids...

This one is particularly awesome (some nice 7 strings!)

I've always maintained that Trivium with different vocals would be great. The vocals ruin them mostly for me, although some of the more Metallica-tribute songs have always annoyed me too.

When they did the track with King Diamond (In The Fire), I absolutely loved it.

I've always liked them. Live they are pretty good. I saw them in a pokey little venue in Kent about 5 or 6 years ago when God Forbid were opening for them and both bands were awesome. They even came and hang out and had a few beers afterwards which was pretty cool. Nice guys to boot.

I'm glad they've gone back to using Gibson & Jackson rather than using those shit Deans they had for a while. Much, much better now.

They are an ok band. Always kinda liked them. Also saw them open for DT. Wished they were Periphery the whole time

Awful songwriting, rotten vocals. I don't get the love at all, you can be the tightest band in the world, but if your songs suck, your songs suck.
Division: American Metal without the suck.

    So live for today,
    Tomorrow never comes.
    Die young, die young,
Can't you see the writing in the air?
    Die young, gonna die young,
    Someone stopped the fair.

Ascendancy and In Waves were definitely my favorites of theirs. I still need to go through Shogun again to give that a proper listen. I could never get along with The Crusade though and think that was more of a transitional period for them (figuring out what works and doesn't really) and think with In Waves they're finally starting to show a more mature face and you can see it in the more song-oriented structures of their music. I really think in the next couple years they'll really come into their own.
