Yeah, but it's got no feeling. Just because you can play a bajillion notes per second doesn't mean it's good music. It has to have feeeeling and porpoise.

Butt seriously, "Acid Rain" was one of the first LTE pieces I heard and is still probably my favourite, followed closely by "Universal Mind".

Jesus fucking christ, that solo. You gotta respect Petrucci: plenty of guitarists (me included
 ) will never touch his playing on Images and Words, and he's only improved with every album and side project since then. Even on the shitty DT albums, there's always at least one or two moments where he goes all beast mode: engage! just to let you know who's boss. |

Oh I love watching that video/DVD from time to time.
Petrucci's solo is just killer and not to mention it's improvised as well.
