Freddie Mercury hologram to appear with Queen

Rock icons Queen – who were due to play at Sonisphere 2012 with singer Adam Lambert before the festival was cancelled – have confirmed that a Freddie Mercury hologram will be making an appearance at a special Queen performance to mark ten years of Queen musical ‘We Will Rock You’.

“It’s a little unfortunate they did that thing with Tupac as we’ve been trying to make Freddie appear on the stage for quite a while,” guitarist Brian May told the BBC, before adding that Mercury’s hologram will not employ the same technology used to bring late rapper Tupac Shakur to life at Coachella in America last month.

The whole reason the Tupac thing was cool was the element of surprise. There was no hype or build up to it, it just happened, and they let word spread organically after the fact. It was something unexpected and new.

This is Without the surprise factor, it's just cheesy.

    Oh my god...

Okay, time to reunite Snot and hologram in Lynn Strait. Or The Reverend for A7X. Or Paul Gray with Slipknot. When will it end?

    It's "unfortunate"? :\

I dont' really care much about Tupac, but I feel like having a hologram of Freddie just cheapens his memory and legacy.

That said, Freddie is pretty irreplaceable, and Queen just isn't the same with, say, Paul Rodgers or anyone else.

This. There's a very good reason why they didn't continue without him.
"The greatest power one may possess -- in any situation -- is simply not to care what happens.

"In fact, it's the only power, all others being a semblance and mockery of it. But you must also not care about possessing the power itself. So fuck it."
