Pete Cosey passed away a couple days ago. For those who don't know, he was the lead guitarist in Miles Davis' mid '70s nasty jazz-funk bands. Pete is featured on the Miles albums Dark Magus, Get Up With It, Agharta, and Pangaea. They played some of the most disturbing "dark jazz" ever during that period. Pete used all kinds of weird tunings and effects, in a period when few people were experimenting with the guitar to that degree. RIP
Here's some video of him with Miles in 1973. Pete's solo starts at about 5:30, and he's playing on a Vox 12-string with some weirdo tuning that sounds like the string courses are tuned in thirds.
And here's a good interview with him:

I saw that on TGP I'm a huge Miles fan, and that period is my favorite. Pete did some amazing, weird, forward thinking stuff on those records. RIP.
