Chuck Schuldiner -- 11 years gone

]DEATH - "Lack Of Comprehension" (Remixed) - YouTube

"The greatest power one may possess -- in any situation -- is simply not to care what happens.

"In fact, it's the only power, all others being a semblance and mockery of it. But you must also not care about possessing the power itself. So fuck it."

Chuck is probably the biggest influence on my guitar playing. Will listen to a few Death albums today.

There's really never band a band with such a perfect mix of technicality, songwriting, and pure fucking headbang-able ass kicking.

RIP Chuck

I knew Chuck for one week back in '86 when he came up from Florida to Toronto to play with my friend's band Slaughter, whom he almost joined but wanted to focus more on his band Death. I did some work on his guitar while he was here, as I was just finished my internship with Lado and was already doing some lighter repairwork for friends and local thrash/punk bands.

I got on very well with him, although it didn't turn out that way between him, Terry and Dave from Slaughter. Nice dude, and wrote some great riffage during those rehearsals.

He was awesome, wrote some of the best metal ever IMO.
When I was in high school doing my GCSEs (finals) we had to write about one of our heroes for an English exam, I wrote about Chuck.
