Yo all, my band is looking at gigging in different places, and the one thing we aren't blessed with like we are in certain places is local knowledge.
We know Sheffield very well, and we know bits of Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and Leeds (either through Uni, mates or living there). However anywhere else we are at a bit of a loss in terms of where is good to play.
We play progressive death metal so we aren't likely to go down well in a folk club or somewhere who thinks Bon Jovi is heavy, but otherwise we are open ton playing in most places around the UK. Distance/fuel is always going to be a factor, but information about anywhere is good.
The only caveat we have really is that we aren't going to be a band who can bring a crowd in places other than our usual places. We may know one or two people, but we're still a new band really. This means that we'd more be looking at supports on smaller gigs, all day festivals, and things of a similar nature.
Essentially we just want to have a change in scenery from time to time for gigs, all have transport and want to know some good places to play.
So, any suggestions from you delectable people?
Audience is less to do with the venue and more to do with the other bands you'll be playing in my experience - in most cities I've played with the notable exception of Manchester with Satan's Hollow we've ended up playing a generic everyman's venue, and brought in local metal bands and made a metal night.
