i had a refinished rg7321 on here that is upgraded with dimarzio x2n and liquifire and has brand new hardware. it was posted on the local craigslist for trade and i had a guy interested in trading a schecter tempest custom. so i was like hell yeah!! so needless to say we traded today. i checked the guitar out this morning right before i headed out and it played like a dream.
so we make the trade, public place of course as i do not fancy getting mugged (or raped for that matter haha) and he seems to love the guitar and i of course love his. we did not have amps to test the guitars with as it was a somewhat hurried trade. we were both on the way to work.
so i get his guitar, its very nice and in pretty good condition. the guy had a freaking set of 8 string strings on it and had it tuned to drop G. the strings bowed the crap out of the neck and there was some major fret buzz on practically every fret.
so im at work and he calls me up and tells me he tried my guitar and that it doesn't work. he says it makes no sound at all when he plugs in. i cant think of a single thing that went wrong with the guitar while it was in my possession. it played great when i had it. i did however notice that when he took the guitar from me he did not even have a case for it he just threw it in the trunk. so it very easily could have gotten messed up on his car ride.
well on the phone he tells me he can get it to work if he wiggles the input jack but then he just gets toneless feedback. so at this point i know its the input jack so i tell him to unscrew it when he gets home and check to see if all the wires are soldered on correctly. he said he would try when he got home but if he didnt get it working he would need his guitar back. at this point i was kind of pissed. realizing if i gave him his guitar back and got mine back that i would have traded him a perfectly working guitar and gotten back a broken one.
but after much thought i decided i didnt want that on my head so i agreed that i would fork over this awesome guitar if he cant get it working himself. which i seriously doubt he will considering he probably knows nothing about the electronics of a guitar.
so you guys think i did the right thing? or should i havejust screwed him over and said you get what you get? haha well im very disappointing in how the deal went but you gotta do what you gotta do.
Maybe you could get it running for him?
