    Death metal with raspier vocals.

so i've been pretty averse to this style in the past. however i've been warming up to this and i'm quite enjoying the output by necrocurse and necrowretch(both released their debut albums this year). however I might be a bit biased due to both bands playing a more primitive style of DM. the riffs seem to fit rather well with these raspier vocals.

so are there any bands that you guys prefer with such vocals?

Necrocurse is way more black metal than death metal, but the Necrowretch one wasn't terrible I suppose. Haven't heard any death metal bands do this, or at least none that come to mind immediately.

Death Metal didn't actually start with gutturals. I think that's a common misconception. Even the very early bands that were on the more guttural side of things, like Entombed, had a lot of raspiness. It was Cannibal Corpse and Deicide that popularized that style in the early mid 90s. Late 80s DM vocals and Black Metal vocals are pretty close.

indeed.. a good chunk of the older bands had raspy vocals .during my initial introduction to death metal, a lot of those bands turned me off. only recently did i started appreciating it. i guess i was mostly seeking newer bands.. should have made it clear in the op.

anyways another band i forgot to mention was verminous who just released their album this year aswell after a 10 yr break.
