Dave hits on this subject as if he was Bob Ross, happy accidents.
Im self taught, so maybe this is something I missed.
But it doesnt make sense to me to be fine with making any mistakes no matter how subtle they are.
I might be an uptight asshole, but im willing to learn, thats why i watch these boring ass interviews. But this attitude Dave puts off is like accuracy isnt important, even to transcribers. It almost sounds like hes saying the transcriber cant be accurate, because Dave himself isnt.....
He calls it the nature of the guitar.....
Should I practice being "inaccurate"? How the fuck does one approach this?
Countdown to Extinction is exhibit A in overly-accurate music. The album is great, but has a clinical sound to it. They were really focused on lining up each and every note between instruments. I can see how he'd want to get away from that mentality.
