Keith Merrow suffering from "Advanced case of tendinitis".

Just noticed this on his Facebook. Hope the guy is going to be all right but it got me thinking how I just do not take this into account when I'm playing.

I know about it and I know it can be very different for everyone. Some people recover after a month or two and some have it for life. I guess I'm just in the mindset of "Ahh, it won't happen to me."

The truth is, it would totally destroy me if I was physically unable to play guitar for the rest of my life.

So, do any of you consciously take this into account while playing because as we are all metal guitarists I guess we are the most susceptible of any guitarist to be effected by this over any other style of playing.

Definitely something to be thinking about.

    Wirelessly posted

Yup. I had to quit for about 4 months last year and then rethink a lot about the mechanics of how I was doing things.

Here's hoping he gets on the mend quick. I know he's not the biggest fan of my forum, but I'm a fan of his absolutely asskicking riffing skills and he seems like a decent dude.

Tendonitis is no joke. Hope he gets better soon.

I guess he said he doesnt like this forum?

I'v had wrist issues for years. My fretting hand though. It sucks. You really just have to cater your technique to work with this and let yourself heal instead of pushing on when there is something wrong.

Keiths music really doesnt do much for me, but hes a great player and hope he gets well.

Wow thats bad news. I hope he gets well soon cause KM has some of the sickest riffs around IMHO.

I'll be honest, I don't honestly know why he's famous (or at least known)
