So, like anyone in their right mind, I fucking love 80s metal. I think the songwriting was usually a lot tighter and more inspired than most modern metal. It's difficult to pinpoint, but I think one of the huge things is that I haven't really heard a single modern metal song that has prechoruses on the level of, say, Queensryche. Seriously, what caused this style to die/diminish? A bitching pre-chorus is one of the most important parts of any song. Listen to everything here and tell me that doesn't rule. Why was it largely abandoned? Sure, pre choruses still exist, but there is nothing coming out on this level anymore.

Q: Where did the pre-chorus go?
A: The pre-chorus goes right before the chorus. Kids these days!
