    Painkiller !

Many had written them off after two suspect albums, then they punched your face!

The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "No. ― Alan Moore

I remember the first time I heard this album and song. I used to jam with this guy from work, he was a drummer about 10 years older than me. I had heard songs like "Breaking the Law" and "Living After Midnight" and dismissed Priest because they weren't heavy enough. He plays me this and my jaw hit the floor. A couple of years later when my first band came together we couldn't decide on a name or cohesive musical direction. I played them this as an example of how I wanted to sound, they liked it so much we ended up naming the band "Painkiller."

    Pretty original, huh.

About a year ago, my friend and I went to a bar where they were doing karaoke night and they were playing mainly country and pop... and I picked this song to sing.

    You can imagine the reaction.

before this album came out I wasn't a big Priest fan. I saw them in Worcester, MA when Testament and Megadeth opened for them. I hung out to see The Priest play and was blown away, especially when they opened up with Painkiller. Since then I have been a huge fan!

I also found out about them from an older guitarist from work ("Nick," from the meat department of the supermarket - I was a bagboy). I wasn't a Priest fan at all as they seemed kind of light in the loafers, but Nick told me that the guitarists basically practiced up and took some new lessons and shit before they made this album. Plus they had the new drummer. Man! Pretty much this whole album kicks ass. I recently downloaded it again. "One Shot At Glory," is another cool song.
