Cherry Pie led him to consume mass-quantities of alcohol and contributed to his death - glam metal kills...

I think a good portion of the popularity of that song was the video. Bobby Brown was f-ing H.O.T.T.

But I could totally see how he would want to blow his face off for that song. I wanted to shoot myself for having to play it in cover bands back then. I could only imagine the hell he went through.

Some people can embrace their "fame", other cannot. I guess Melissa Gilbert has the same issue with Little House. She will get all pissed off at you if you call her half-pint.

I think it's ironic how so many songs that bands write in like 5 minutes because the studio "want a single" become the songs they're most famous for. Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" is a good example of that. Wrote the song last minute in the studio and it became the name for the album and the single off the album and arguably the most famous song that they wrote.

"I hate that song. I had no intention of writing that song ... And my legacy is 'Cherry Pie,' everything about me is 'Cherry Pie,' I'm the 'Cherry Pie' guy. I could shoot myself in the fucking head for writing that song."
...and his posthumous bio pic is called Cherry Pie Guy. Eerie...
