    Anathema - Distant Satellites

There's a new Anathema album out.

Anathema are for me one of the most consistent bands ever. I've got all albums since Eternity, and they all range from good to fantastic. As the two last albums were some of my favorite albums ever (especially We're Here Because We're Here), I had great expectations for this one.

I've got to say that this doesn't perhaps reach the heights of those albums for me, but it's still a really solid album, and the more I've listened to it the more I've come to like even the songs that at first seemed a bit weaker.

Anathema is one of the best bands ever. They're responsible for two of my favorite albums of all time, and they don't have a bad song, IMO.

    Finally got this.

Maybe it's because I've listened to Weather Systems and We're Here Because We're Here constantly, but . . . this just feels kind of samey, both in terms of melodic and textural content.

It's not bad. In fact, if it were any other band, it'd be awesome. But, a lot of this album just seems kind of redundant and indistinguishable from the other two.

First song in, I heard the line, "My life is like a hurricane." Now I can only think of Duck Tales, and the album is ruined.
