    Record out live shows?

If everything is running into the board, in your guys opinion what's the best way to record it so we can listen to it and see what works and what don't. Not trying to make a live album lol. Just wanna hear the mix for my axe fx patches and the overall performance. Any ideas that r cheap and easy cuz out sound guys a drunk. Thanks
Sorry if in the wrong forum.

Well, the simplest solution is actually a handheld recorder out in the audience. I know for my band's live mixes, we don't mic the drums generally, nor the bass, so what's going through the PA isn't an accurate representation of the actual sound.

And, even if you have everything going through the board, it won't be mixed best for a recording. I'd suggest a handheld recorder to get a good "what your peeps are hearing" recording.

Best way to hear your own sound out would be to get a wireless and jump off the stage and stand out front. Then imagine that sound but with people in it

But as mentioned, a recording will be nowhere close to the sound that you would perceive from the PA.

Cheapest way would be to get any computer or iphone and just record straight out to that. You want to get extra nerdy, you can get a presonus 1818 and go every channel from board onto it. Then you can separate the tracks at least.

I've found that having someone in the crowd with an iphone works wonders. They're surprisingly good at giving you a decent representation of your live sound.

When I used to gig, I'd sometimes stick a mini-dpisk recorder on the desk and grab the sound that way.
