Say what you will about Nu metal. I was born in 82 and was in high school in the mid to late 90's I'm unapologetic and have donned my flame suit.

    Sevendust, hell yeah.

I have a soft spot for this as the chorus is killer.

Not quite my thing, but that's way better than Korn or Linkin Park or those other "whiny guy" bands. And hell, it's pretty much in John Coltrane territory compared to djent.

I liked the first Korn album back in the day, nothing else they have done has done it for me though.

I also liked that band "Dark New Day" with Clint Lowery(from 7dust). It's something I wouldn't normally like but this stuff is just good.

I love Sevendust and have been a fan for about 17 years now, but they are about as far away from "djent" as you can get. I imagine you're referring to their syncopated riffs as being "djent-like," but syncopation has been around forever. You can find syncopated riffs not just in tons of different sub-genres of metal, but also in other genres like rock or jazz.

While I've never heard or read Sevendust called "djent" before, I have heard (and read) them called "nu metal" a lot, which I personally don't get at all.

Call them "alternative metal" or even "groove metal," but "nu metal" doesn't apply in any way I can see.
