Pretty good season opener, I knew it'd be a good one because Eddie is so close to the Rush guys and the more relaxed things are on the set, the better the shows are. I was really curious as to how Petrucci would act as a guest and he doesn't seem as shy these days as he used to be.
What I did find funny is that Petrucci's outro bits were almost entirely from his solo album, some of it was kind of riffing on the theme and some of it was straight up from the album. Surprised it made it onto the show, but I doubt any of those guys producing/editing have a clue that it's published music.
I know a lot of people hate this show, but I generally dig every episode. For the normal comedy Jim and Don do, they come off as a bit cheesey on the show but I think Jim's the man just because he was banging Robin Quivers...
People give Eddie shit for blowing smoke up his guests asses, but the dude's a fan first and foremost and I think that's what makes his interviews so good, he actually knows the history of who he's taking to.
Oh yeah, some dude won a Sterling by MusicMan hat....Eddie called it stupid to which Petrucci quickly corrected him on, that was pretty funny.
I have mixed reactions on the show. Its obviously the closest thing on tv to "our demographic" but the issues that people have about it are quite legitimate to say the least. This is the same when it comes to the general attitude about metal as a whole on VH1 classic, not just TMS (ie: the exclusion of anything heavier then thrash on the Metal Evolution series and Metal Mania). And also, Im sure I am not the only one here who is not literately screaming at the TV when they are doing those damn ranking things at the beginning of each show. (I think they did a top 5 priest albums and painkiller wasnt even mentioned or something)
