Seriously one of the tightest bands out there, unbelievable.
Support acts were;
Hang The Bastard
I missed Chapters as we were a little late, and after checking them out on youtube afterwards I'm sort of glad I did
Conjurer were absolutely awesome. A blend of sludge, doom, black, death. Really soupy guitars tuned down to G#, quite Mastodon-esque riffs, with a Carcass feel here and there, slow and doomy but with the odd foray into blast beats. Really great stuff.
Hang The Bastard were the final support act. I'd not heard them before the show, but heard of them. The first riff opened up and I was really digging it, very NOLA scene sort of stuff, Eyehategod etc, dirty and grimy Sabbath worship, plodding and heavy. Then the singer opened his fucking gob and I sat out in the bar for the rest of their set. Black metal screeching over that kind of groove was something I couldn't stomach, and seemed like a poorly thought out addition to the band. I'm sure this is some really legit esoteric thing that I don't get or understand because I'm not cool enough, but I couldn't tell where one song ended and the other started.
Anyway Sylosis were amazing, got to hang out with Josh for a bit and chat gear. He was using his modded Marshall JPM into custom 1960 cabs. I asked him what speakers he was using but he said he didn't know. I didn't believe him. I suspect either Greenbacks (as they've been known for using in the past) or T75s as he said "whatever 1960's come with" (as if you wouldn't know)
