Another day, another musical great dead. RIP Maurice White

It's not metal but Earth Wind and Fire kicked ass and they have always been some of the most fun tracks I've played in covers bands.

I'm getting to the age where all of the people I grew up admiring have begun dying.

    This is sad.
All I can ask is that I suck a little less each time I pick up my guitar...

This and it sucks big time.
The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "No. ― Alan Moore

I've always had a soft spot for EW&F. September and Let's Groove are just funktastic goodness and I just adored Fantasy. RIP.

The later pop hits are what EWF is mostly known for, but their first two records from the early '70s are some amazing cosmic groove jazz/funk. Here's a great example:

Before EWF, Maurice was an accomplished jazz drummer, playing with the Ramsey Lewis group in the late '60s.

"September" is perhaps one of the most groovetastic and uplifting songs ever. When listening to it, if you don't a) want to dance; and b) feel better afterward, then you have no soul.
