Quite a good read that explores the notion that, although we're all aware of the 'devaluation' of music in the monetary sense, it's also devalued in the intellectual and integral sense in recent years.

edit: I both enjoy and find it interesting that the article isn't so much based on pop stars and their effect, but rather the effect of classical and jazz taking a back seat to follow celebrities. The section regarding movies and video games is good too.
The article makes me want to get some jazz records (that I can handle) and some classical music and learn something.
