Had great seats. Dead center on the first balcony. Better vantage point than the people on the floor underneath me.
Sound wasn't the greatest for vocals. Guitars were pretty loud my ears are ringing.Surprising bbecause for satriani my ears were fine.
Show was three hours forty five minutes.
Started with all five jamming to a deep purple song.
Then tosin played a few songs. P retty good i though he was all slaps and taps but played some nice melodic stuff too. Nuno joined him and they play physical education together.
Nuno showered tosin with complements. Then did a set. He was really good. I had no idea. Very funny too. Teased more than words on a twelve string acoustic before doing a cool instrumental with a middle eastern vibe. Then Zack did a duo with him.
Zack did a set with a Sabbath, zeppelin and Hendrix cover. Tones of pinch harmonics as expected. Wanted some ozzy solo riffs.... never got it. Not sure why zack kept calling everyone father. .... father Steve father nuno etc. He was the most widdly and repetitive. Then yngwie played a song with zack.
Malmsteen was amazing. A lot of kicks. Spinning and tossing the guitar. But what i dug was a bit where he lets the guitar feedback dragging it over the p.a. then the stack. He had a silly number of marshall heads and cabs. Probably just for show. I know therr are a lot of jokes about him but man he is good. Then a duo with vai.
Vai did a great set too. Saw him up close at a clinic..... this was different had no idea how much he would slink around and almost play with his whole body. Tosin did a duo.
Then the big finish two jams with everyone. Highway star and grand funk railroad Frankenstein.
Had no idea nuno can play the drums. He used a three or four piece kit and did a back and forth with the drummer.
All in all great show as i had not seen any of these guys live. Except vai at a clinic.
Nuno was the biggest surprise followed by yngwie.
