Not sure yet, the beginning had almost turned me off completely, but from the chugging verse on I could like this. I am sometimes unsure if this is Opeth, it sounds too "modern" for what I would have expected. Also I think they are tuned lower than ever.
I am not complaining mind you, the last thing I would have wanted is another "retro psychedelic" wankery that screams "look how shitty our sound can be".

As the song goes on, I really start to like this. I will check out the album when it's here.

Never really been an Opeth fan but isn't that a little heavier than normal for them?

I wish they would do more shit like this. Love this tune.

The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "No. ― Alan Moore

Depends what you consider their normal... If normal is their last two albums, then yes. If normal is every album before the last two, then hell no.

Listen to the Damnation album. It's basically that style. In fact one of the songs on Damnation (To Rid the Disease) has the exact same chorus as that one.

Off one listen I like it more than the last two albums. And I agree that the intro makes me want to close the window and continue not listening to them anymore, but after the break and on to the end of the song I'm more OK with it.

Also...'isn't that a little heavier than normal for them' ...oh dear.
