I love 7 string guitars and I love 6 string guitars. They're both wonderful.

One strange reason I really loved 7 string guitars at first was that I found playing in C#m became heavy, finally. I had always loved C#m songs ever since I heard Take the Time and Under a Glass Moon. I naturally loved writing in that key, so being able to play it on the 2nd fret of my lowest string is just badass to me.

Im all 7's (or 8) at this point. I actually feel awkward on a 6 string now.

I've been kind of favoring my 6's now. My 7 strings just kind of just sit there until we play a show. But, I've been slowly switching that over too.

Same here. When I first bought my seven, I wrote more songs in C# than in any other key just because I loved the sound of that second fret C#. While other guys oftentimes just pick up a guitar and play a power chord off the open lowest string, I oftentimes just play that 2nd fret C#. Don't know why, but I really like it.

interesting, even when tuned to drop a, i still rarely will go to the open a, rather a b or c usually. most of the time i think that my band should actually tune up to b atleast.

Whats a 6 string

I love my 7's, but I feel no issues with 6's....apart from when I try to do the solo's I've made with all 7 strings.....but seeing someone use a 6 doesn't bother me, hell sometimes I wonder if I should grab a 6 again, but then everytime I play one, I keep missing a string

I play a lot in B in my band, but in my previous band the other guitarist played a six-string down a full step, so I played a seven down a full step, but I never played the open A because I hated the way it sounded. The lowest note I played was the B on the 2nd fret. The first thing I did when I quite the band was tune my guitar back up to standard.

thats actually the same way i am. i hate the way the a ends up coming out 99% of the time, 2nd-4rth frets i love, lower, not so much.

I started on a 7 and I'm glad I did, a 6 just doesn't feel right to me but a 7 tuned to B standard just seems perfect.
