The fact that it's suicide from depression makes it even harder to swallow for me.

The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "No.” ― Alan Moore

I dunno... The autoerotic thing seems like a sensational leap considering he has a documented history of serious depression. I don't think "pretty noose" was meant as a love letter.
    Spoiler

Seriously, his voice and mannerisms were way too much like Trump's, it's eerie. Even starting to look like him.

But man, even a severely-depressed/fucked up Chris Cornell sounds better than most people. Even if he wasn't all the way there, the dude was such a fucking legend.

I don't know if you guys have seen but he was on medication for anxiety and he took an extra dosage to help as he told his wife and it's quite possible that he didn't know what he was doing due to the side effects. Because the reason she sent someone to check on him is because of his slurring speech on the phone and then knowing he took extra medication to help whatever.
From what has been said it was very unexpected.
