I got my new Tung-Sol 6L6s in my 2:90 now, and while I had the lid off, I was scoping out the fan on my 2:90 that cools the power tubes.
And I began thinking of how much you guys think my tone sucks (), so I started debating swapping out the fan for one of these:
(Cuz we all know blinky lights = tone)
So here's the thing... the specs on the fan that is currently in there are:
32dBa (Who cares right?)
And the LED fan is:
However, I could get a fan that has these specs:
Fan Speed 5,700 RPM
Fan Airflow 84.1 CFM
Obviously, the LED fan is going to be slightly better than the one already in there. But would there be any 'real' benefit from going with the 84 CFM fan? Or would that be severe overkill?
Unless you have a source of chilled air to blow in there, it seems like overkill to me. You'll just end up sucking/blowing more dust through your rack, and it'll be more noisy (at anything below bone-crushing volume).
