Question I'm going back to my rack setup and I've got some signal chain questions...

Well I've decided to get my Triaxis fixed (I should have it back in about a week) and replace the Simul Class 2:90 that I sold a couple years ago, which I'm still kicking my own ass for doing. I acutally just grabbed one off Ebay so I've got that covered.

My question is the best way to run my signal path/order of configuration....

My gear is listed below.

Triaxis

TC Electronic G-Major

BBE Sonic Maximzer (stereo) I know a lot of you guys hate these things but I've grown to like them, but I'm not even sure that in the end I'll end up using it. Lets just say for the sake of this conversation that I will be.

Rocktron Hush

Simul Class 2:90

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Guitar -> the tubescreamer you should use instead of the BBE -> Triaxis -> G Major -> Simul Class 2:90

Take the Hush, put it on E-bay. Hush is Latin for "destroyer of tone".

I agree, with a 290 there is no need for the BBE at all and I have heard hush's just suck tone, get yourself a little boss NS2 and put it out front and you would be surprized the difference it makes!

Or the ISP Decimator. My guitarist uses one and it can somehow cut noise to virtually nil from a Tele running full tilt into a Tubscreamer+Fuzz+MXR compressor with level boosted into a Super Reverb.

Yes, it sounds like shit (although I wouldn't blame the Decimator on that one!) No, I don't want to get into another argument with him about it

Get rid of the Hush and the BBE, as everyone else has said . The G-Major has some noise reduction in it, which works pretty well. If you need more, get something from ISP.

Put it all in a rack except for the BBE.

Douse the BBE in kerosene in a parking lot or a barrel or somewhere else safe and light the fucker on fire.

Also make sure to get a couple patch cables to run the Triaxis switches and 2:90 modes together. Deep & Modern = sheer awesome.

Invite me and my camera down, and we can even make it one fuck of a picstory.

Another question.... Should I not be using the effects loop on the Triaxis? I used to in the past but it sounds like no one does that.

I've gotten the hint on the BBE.

When I had the triaxis setup I did this:

Guitar -> Wah -> Triaxis -> G-Force -> 2:90 -> Cab

I didn't bother with the effects loop, since the output of the triaxis is between the pre and power amp anyway. the G-Force/G Major has a noise gate that is much, much better than the HUSH. I have a couple of HUSH rack units getting dusty somewhere in my basement. I also have a sonic maximizer or two, also getting dusty.

I've used the effects loop on the Triaxis, there's really not any difference in sound. It's there incase you want the Gmajor to be on or off depending on what preset you're using. The TC stuff is all pretty good at being quiet, so I'd say just run the outputs from the triaxis into the processor then out to the 2:90.
