Fuck me, it's awesome! For an 11w head it's really, really loud, but it has some very, very nice tones. Cleans are super clean, "sexy" clean adds a bit of clean-but-not-clean grit (if that makes sense?), lead1 gets you into a nice classic rock distortion and lead2 gets you face ripping metal. Yes, I really do mean face ripping metal, this thing had more grind than a lot of high-wattage high gain heads I've heard.
Brutus All-Valve Head
I was in Doncaster with Stuh84 and his bandmate Pete trying a selection of amps at Electro Music. We'd tried a THD BiValave just before this, and as nice as that is the Brutus is better at a lower price. We also tried a Peavey Ultra Plus and an Engl Savage 120. The Engl sounded truly terrible, which lead Stuh to think there was something wrong with it as he's played one before.
We finished off the day at mine, running Stuh's Invader 150 through my Trace Elliot 3x12. That was a very, very nice metal sound, much akin to the Horsemen of the Apocalypse riding into town. With the volume on 2. I really, really, really don't want to be anywhere near an Invader on 10, it was stupidly loud just on 2.
Anyway, I'm hoping to be going back to buy the Ultra Plus at some point. I'd love the Brutus, but I can't justify spending £750 on an amp that'd only be used for home practice.
Like I said, it does metal. This clip doesn't even approach the maximum gain this beast has
