It seems like no matter what I get, I'm unhappy with - or at least find a way to be unhappy with it. Now, the Mark III is killer yes, and has more gain on tap than I'll ever need but it seems like it's all bold and punchy and that's it. I want something that can do a bunch of different tones which it seems like only the Digitech/Fractal Audio etc preamps can do. I guess when I say a whole bunch of different tones that would refer to having a midi setup right? I want something that can do say :
Channel 1 - Cleans - shimmery and Fender-esque
Channel 2 - That kind of tight Laney rhythm
Channel 3 - A really punchy kind of metal - the Mesa kind
Channel 4 - Soaring lead, not shrill and icy-picky (think Paul Gilbert)
Is modeling the only way to achieve this kind of desire?
