SO i've been messing with this UX1 for a while. And i've recently discovered how to do the whole impulse thing. So i decided to start using that over l6 cabinet emulation. Sounds a fuckton better.
I've been working on a cover of recording "Creeping Death". I tracked everything with the Line6 software (Incl. Bass).
Then i found out about that "Wagner Sharp" Preamp plugin, and just recording dry guitar and adding distortion and shit after the fact. Holy fuck. Not only is it way more versatile, but this fucking free-ass plugin sounds shit-tons better than any of the line 6 presets i've used. I'm not a Pod-wizard like a lot of the guys who use the fuckers, but with minimal tweaking, i've been able to get way more listenable results using the same input (Ux1), the same EQs, the same plugins, the same everything else essentially. Makes wonder whats up with line 6 since their shit's getting out done by free plugins?
BTW, here's the comparison:
Line6 software: Line 6 Creeping Death
Wagner Sharp MKII + SIR/Impulses:
wagner MKII Creeping Death
I've done re-amping with PODs before and it's much nicer to be able to tweak after the fact, definitely, and you can get much better sounds that way.
However, yeah, Line 6 has been selling the same amp models since, like, 2003. Time for them to update the range a bit.
