Default A Pickup Dilemma

So, my gear life never seems to be without excitement....

I just ordered a set of Nailbombs for my RG7421XL. This was originally intended to be my main, but now that I found out the Carvin 7 I want is only $989, I'm going to end up pulling the trigger on that. Here's my question:

Should I hold the Nailbombs for the Carvin, since it will undoubtedly become my new main, or should I still throw them in the RG and enjoy the stock Carvin pups?

Thanks as always guys!

Will they fit in the Carvin, or will you need to do the extra routing?

A completely subjective discussion of semantics? Awesome!

Ooh, good question Josh. They should fit just fine; I'm not sure if Carvin uses smaller than standard routes?

For their 7s they use smaller routes, although they may have changed that policy recently, I don't remember.

Well, if it will require routing, I'll probably just throw them in the RG still. Bah. I'll email Carvin to see if they can tell me.

Now I'm actually curious...does anyone think that Carvin would be willing to install the BKP's while building if I sent the set to them? (I'm just brainstorming out of my ass right now)

No, I don't think so, as it's all handled via CNC routing.

I'd doubt Carvin would install anything other than their own pickups. Their routes are known to be smaller than a "standard" 7 string pickup route, but the extra clearance you need varies between pickups. Give one of the BKP's a try in it and see how much needs to be removed for it to fit, it might just be a 5mins with a Dremmel job. Oh, and buy another set of BKP's for your RG
