So, I'm about to pull the trigger on a new bridge pickup for my purple+maple Agile... and I'm torn between an SH-5 Duncan Custom or a Dimarzio D Sonic 7.
It's a maple-topped mahogany guitar with maple neck, maple fretboard, and 27" scale, and I'm looking for some great clarity and tightness on the low B and some excellent "snarl" on the top-end.
Any thoughts? Please don't say "get a BKP" without really providing any insight please.
I haven't tried the straight ceramic Duncan Custom, but the Custom + Alnico 8 magnet i had in my Dean for a while is right up there with my favourite bridge pickups ever. Everything you describe is there... punch, snarl, tightness and clarity.
With the 27" scale and maple board, your Agile might benefit from a slightly warmer tone, though, maybe a Custom with an Alnico 5 magnet (the "Custom 5" but in a 7-string version).
