What do you guys think of this, I still am having problems with the back panel of my Mesa 4x12 rattling. I've tried my rig on other 4x12s, most notably my other guitarist's Marshall 4x12s, and my amp settings don't make his cabs rattle. Plus twice now at gigs, I've heard other bands' Mesa 4x12s have the same rattle mine has when they crank their amps too. The dilemma is though that I still think the Mesa 4x12 sounds better than all the other cabs I've tried and I'd rather fix this issue than buy a new cab.
So I'm wondering what I can do to fix this. Changing my power tubes helped a little, but I was thinking of maybe lining the inside back of the cab with acoustic foam. Maybe anchoring it down with velcro or whatnot so it's nice and firmly in place. I've also thought about porting the back panel (egads! ) too, but I don't have the balls to try that just yet.
Any ideas? Any of you have this problem with your Mesa 4x12s? Dave fuck off I don't want v90s.
Maybe try some weather stripping on the seal of the back panel? That might deaden some of the rattling.
At least, that's what I'd try.
