    Speaker Power Handling

I wanted to ad this to Mesh's thread, but it's slightly different, and more broad, so...

I (also) bought a Mosvalve 500w solid state power amp, and will be using it with a 4x12 with V30's @ 8ohms. I know that you can go over the power rating of your speakers to achieve speaker distortion, but how far can you go before you cause damage?

You should be fine pushing the crap out of that cab with that amp. The 500watt rating is probably max at like 4ohms or something so I think pushing an 8 ohm 240 watt cab with that amp the speakers aren't likely to suffer any damage.

believe me your ears will bleed before you blow your speakers playing normal-ish guitar stuff. but if you play a bass through that amp your speakers are toast
