I'm prepared to fix my dilapidated craigslist cabinet:
As you can see, I've already spiced up the appearance of the cab with a spray-painted piece of chain link fence. And here's what it looked like new, apparently:
I'd really like to do away with the old upholstery, but just leaving it bare particle board (which I think it is) would be rather boring. Could I paint it? Would re-upholstering it be feasible?
Also, how about cutting the damn thing in half and making 2 4x10s? I would put the better of the 8 speakers (non-dented) into one primary-use cab and just have the other one around for shits and giggles. I suppose there wouldn't be very many issues with wiring... it's only getting 360 watts from my mesa m-pulse. It sure would beat hauling this 100 pound cab around!
My spring break is coming up, so I have quite a bit of time to dedicate to turning this cabinet into something more tasteful. At the very least, I want to replace the floor panel, as it has started to seperate from being dragged everywhere. That, and casters.
Rhino Liner (the stuff they use on pickup truck beds) sprays on pretty easily and is durable.
Also, the only funky thing about cutting it in half and making two 4x10s is that it's likely that there's some crossover circuitry for the horn that you might have to tweak. There's also not much clearance between speakers to do so.
What kind of cab is that anyways?
