I did NOT expect my rig to look like this.
Epiphone Zakk Wylde LP. Bone stock. I wanted a reasonably cheap but solid guitar for live work, and these things just drop in value from new, so I thought 'why not?' As it happens, I love it. Much, much heavier than my old LP black beauty, sounds pretty massive, the unfinished maple neck is fantastic, solid fretwork and hardware, and I don't hate the EMG HZ's, I don't know if it's just the massive slab of mahogany, the darker sound of the V2, or the extra bass response from the MF400, but they don't sound anywhere as thin or tinny as they have in previous guitars.
The Randall/MF rig, was kind of an impulse. My mate bought it about 18 months ago, and I was really impressed, seeing as I expected a straight ahead death metal amp. Anyway, he decided to sell it in February, so I snapped it off him. The sound and the lack of maintenance (power tubes etc) just really suit me, especially what I'm doing presently.
Now...on to pedals... :P
That is a very, very metal setup you've got there. I likey.
