I have an old peavey 2x12 monitor box that I am thinking about turning into a rack with a little compartment for cables etc. Its a bit wider than 19" so im going to have to use a jigsaw to cut out the speaker baffle, and then figure out what to put in to make it the right size. I was thinking some thick wood blocks, but its already heavy and I would like for it not weigh more than it has to. Its actually a fairly simple project, but I just need to figure out what to use to make a place for the rack rails. Thought about leaving some of the baffle there for it, but I don't know if it'll be sturdy enough. Any ideas?
Maybe something like this?(but with wood down the side)
Or, I could just make a zombie rack by cutting the peavey apart, and putting it back together, cutting it down to be 19".
