So Clear, Yet So Brutal
Seriously, I was like the majority of you guys and never considered Rivera a real contender in the metal amp catergory. Than I played a KR-100 through a variety of cabs in a store and I was blown away. After trying their other models I discovered the K Tre (I have no use for reverb, but that model is equally good) through a mesa OS is the ultimate metal rhythm sound. Seriously, if all you need is a killer rhythm sound and fucking pristine cleans this is your amp. It gets super loud, but it can also do good tones at moderate (maybe loud TV level), especially with the FX loop attenuation. I'm probably gonna pick up a recto 1x12 to improve low volume tones even more. I love how, unlike some other amps, the pickups you are using really make a difference. The EMG 81x sounds awesome in its own smooth/polished way, but my passives all retain their character as well.
I haven't put it under a mic yet, but its a shame not more recording guys recognize how great this amp is. In my opinion it wipes the floor with 5150s/Rectos/Boutique Stuff you name it.
I haven't tried to dial in a lead sound yet, anybody have any reccomendations for good lead settings?
This in stereo with a Engl Blackmore or Savage through a Engl V60 cab would be the ultimate metal setup in my opinion.
I've wanted to play a Knucklehead for years. Unfortunately, they are rarer than hen's teeth over here.
