For one horrified moment I thought you were running a Metal Zone with the gain on 2 o'clock as a boost in front of the distorted channel on the F50.
Back in the day, I used to use a Metal Zone in front of a Marshall JTM combo. I'd either use it as a boost, with the distortion all the way off just to juice the front end of the amp a little, or use it as a distortion source (I stopped doing this when I sold the Marshall and bout my first Mesa, a Rocket-44, because the Mesa destroyed the pedal). Back then, even with a Strat, I'd rarely run the gain any higher than 12 o'clock. The Metal Zone puts out a LOT of gain... Do you get the same hum when you don't use the pedal but instead use the distortion channel on the amp? If not, it's the pedal.
Either way, the F-50 has a pretty damned good distortion channel - myself, I wouldn't bother with the pedal, I'd just plug straight in. IF you're after moreof a Recto tone, take Josh's settings, up the gain to maybe 12-1 o'clock, cut the mids back to maybe 11 o'clock, and up the bass a hair, maybe 3 o'clock. Disclaimer, it's been forever since I've played one so I'm just guessing, but it'll give you a heavier sound, I suspect.
