    New Amp Day - Rollin' a 7 on a Line 6

So I went on a local pawn shop run today, figuring I'd find nothing as usual but I've done it monthly since I moved to Virginia from Long Island, NY, where we, in fact, had no pawn shops. Same old ugly, crappy guitars. One had an Optek Strat which made me chuckle. Hamer Slammers, Squiers, OLP...starter junk. So I went to one of the more nicer shops today and what did I see...a Line 6 Vetta II amp! These retail for $1700! New in the box! Holy Fuck! What's the price? It was $700...I asked if he'd do $500 and he said YES! Then, hidden behind the amp was.....the long board foot controller! That's $400 new. (As opposed to the short board which has one pedal, the long board has 2 and more switches). Feeling brazen, I said "How about throwing that in for free (It had said $200) since it's worthless without the amp...and he went for it! I just lugged this heavy sumbizzitch up to the guitar room and will probably be busy till Xmas futzing with the effects and settings. A fine day. A fine day indeed.

Nice score. Some of the pawnshops in the DC area used to have good stuff back in the '90s, but eBay pretty much killed that here, just like everywhere else I've been. People are generally more likely to list nice gear rather than get pennies on the dollar for it at the pawnshop. And pawnshops themselves tend to list the nicer stuff they get on eBay. The crap stuff is put out on the floor (usually at inflated prices) to try and attract the "buying Junior a guitar for Xmas" crowd.
