Default Got my first Jackson

Kinda old guy here but love the metal. Picked up what I think is a Jackson soloist - it has the straight headstock, string-thru body with a TOM bridge.

Love the neck - nice and flat, pretty fast. This is a cheapie model, bolt-on neck and a pair of VERY underwhelming EMG HZ pickups. They gots to go.

I haven't bought any high output pickups in a long time - been in a blues and jazz kick for awhile. What would be a good high output bridge pickup for this guitar? I figure DiMarzio or SD but I'm not sure which ones for a nice metal tone (metallica, anthrax, slayer etc)

Cool buy and welcome to the forum

I think this might be a dinky, think the soloists are all neck through. I could be wrong though. I have the SD JB in the bridge and Jazz in the neck and I think they're pretty versatile and do metal quite well.

Post Pics!

The boards won't let me post pics yet because I haven't been a member for a full day. I activated my account sometime yesterday and have all the pics on my site, I'll update ASAP.

Sounds like a DXMGT. It's got the 3 on a side headstock, or the 6 on a side pointy?

Regardless, throw a Duncan JB and Jazz in it for starters. They're easy to find cheap.

Try attaching them.

Edit: Though I forget if it'll restrict that too.

Welcome, either way!
