Since I bought it, my Laney annoyingly blew the fuses when turning it on. It was something that happened randomly in rare occasions (I had spare fuses as i'm a cheap bastard who can't afford a tech,) but lately always craps out
So I finally took it to a tech to see what was wrong and told him to call me before repairing anything and he said: "Ok, I'll check it out". A week later, the amp is repaired: 4 tubes replaced and a 180€ quote, all of this without my permission. Of course, I didn't pay a dime and now the amp is being back at it's original state.
The tubes worked fine, the amp never did unpleasant noises or microphonic squeals and it has been rarely used/moved in two years. Is it really possible that the root of the problem are those tubes? To me looks like the dude is trying to make some extra cash out of me. I don't even know if the amp can produce sound with 4 blown tubes (power tubes, IIRC).
Anyone have any clue of what's going on with the amp? Any help is appreciated!
Yeah, dude screwed you.
