Disclaimer: I do not intend to really "monitor" with these, since I have a nice pair of Tascams (that I had to repair.. thanks Drew ) that I plan to do my "real" monitoring with. I'm in the middle of a big ol' home renovation project, and one of the first things I'm doing is remodeling my home office/studio to separate a mixing console from my regular desk. Anyway.
That said, I picked these up for a couple of reasons.
- I wanted something to run the HD500 to
- I have a Bose sub/satellite setup on my computer, and I'm just not a subwoofer kind of guy
- I needed multiple inputs.
So these are doing a few things. They have 3 ins - RCA, 1/4" and an 1/8" aux jack. I have the HD500 running into the 1/4" jacks, my iMac into the RCAs, and my xBox is going into the Aux in.
That said.. These things kick fucking ass! For $150 I fully expected them to be, well, on par with most Logitech speakers in the range. I am VERY pleasantly surprised - they sound fantastic! Plenty of volume, awesome bass response, everything I was looking for. It's like they have no business being this small.
Awesome, awesome speakers. I can't really say how they stack up in terms of flat response monitoring, but otherwise - for $150 they are a fantastic buy.
Edit: $150 for the pair.
Seriously. Buy these. They are awesome.
