And the LORD saw the light, and decided it was good.
Traded my fifty-fifty for a 2:95. 65 pounds of tonka-tough steel, a veritable forest of tubes, and 190 watts of stereo death.
I always kinda felt like the 50/50 just wasn't as good as the rest of Mesa's power amp offerings. I don't know if there's any truth in that statement, but this one certainly sounds a lot better to me than either of my 50/50s ever did.
I'm really liking the independent channel standbys, lets me use a mono cab, the Fifty/Fifty didn't have that, so I always worried about not running it stereo.
It is *rather* heavy, which means it's good that we have a hand truck, but I may be bringing the 12-space road Case out of retirement. Fit a 1x12 cabinet in there, and contain my entire rig in a case. open, plug in, and go.
You know the saying... Better to have too much than not enough.
...Still, I don't know why the value on these babies fluctuates so much. I was doing my research before deciding to trade, and I've seen people say they got them for as low as $300-350, and as much as $700-800.
No other mesa power amp I've seen does that to this extent.
It looks badass!
But that Soldano pre looks.. cheap.
