Hey guys, forgive my ignorance as I only have a rudimentary understanding of how an amp actually works. I was under the impression that the line out takes the signal from just after the preamp at line level.
I was wondering if it's possible to use the line out of the Cobra as the effects send, whack that into some line level rack gear (Maybe an eq, effects processor and gate) then run it back to the effects return. Would this work?
Again, sorry if I'm way off the mark here, I know the mod to make the loop switchable from parallel to series is piss easy, I just dont want to drill the chassis.
No, that is not what line out is for, and you'll more than likely create a ground loop that results in uncontrollable feedback. Most amp manuals specifically tell you not to do this. Here it is from my amp's manual:
Drill the chassis, dude. It's not like it will hurt resale. The SLAVE output is not like the effects loop - in that once a signal has been taken from the SLAVE, it can not be returned to the Stiletto RETURN jack or Input. Doing so will result in a feedback loop which will produce a high pitch squeal much like a microphone held to a monitor.
