I'm having trouble deciding which route to take in regards to effects.
Some backing information:
I'm a bedroom player. Currently, I'm playing through my recording setup, which is a POD X3 bean -> FastTrack Pro -> computer/KRK Rokit 5's. I have a POD XT Live for recording two guitars at once, jamming with a friend, etc. Some time ago, I bought a Mesa Triple Rectifier and a Mesa slanted 4x12 with the intention of getting out of the bedroom. And I succeeded, for a little while. Every time I played, though, it was straight from the guitar into the triple rec and out. Whenever I stopped playing, I'd get horrendous feedback. And the bottom end sounded too....thin? Well, anyways: I'm looking to get out of the bedroom again. This time, I'd like to do it right. Recently, I've taken inventory of my pedal collection to decide what I'd want/need for a pedal board. I've come to the conclusion that I'm missing three things: A noise gate, an equalizer of some sort and some kind of drive. I've chosen an ISP Decimator, BOSS GE-7 and a tube screamer to fill those roles. And I'm getting ready to buy them. But then it occurred to me that I might wind up doing a lot of tap dancing at some point. I dislike tap dancing.
So, my question is: Given the above information, which setup would you choose?
Setup A(in no particular order):
KORG Pitckblack digital floor tuner
*Tube screamer variant
*Some sort of rack effects processor
*...Something completely different or a mixture of the two?
*=Do not own as of yet
Money is an issue, but time isn't. The half stack has been sitting there for months. It can wait a little longer while I save up. I'll probably be playing some form of metal.
PLX HALP <3.
If you don't want to tap dance, setup B is the only (economical) way to go.
