    RANDALL opinions....anyone....???

What is the be-all end-all RANDALL head? The BEST metal Randall head in your opinion..Tube / Hybrid / or Solid State?

I have a Randall RH300 G3 and a Peavey JSX. I have to say I still revert to the RH300 for razor sharp crushing metal sounds...Even though it's not as versitile.

Basically, What could/should I get to replace both of those heads with one?

Don't get me wrong the JSX is a great head, but to get anywhere near the SS Randall sound I have to use the clean channel and pedals...but it's still not the same.

I don't have a Randall pre, but I absolutely love my RT2/50 power amp. With my TriAxis, it's VERY versatile (and heavy ).

I think the RM100 is their best amp. If I switch back from being a bassist, this will be the next guitar amp I own.

The RM100 is probably they're best amp. With different modules you can customize your preamp sounds your way and lots of people even get them modded to sound like Mesa, Engl, or other flavors.

I own the T2 and absolutely love it for tight and crushing metal but have really been curious to try out the Ultra preamp in an RM100. Same thing with the V2 (co-own it with a friend), but it's a bit more versatile with a SS channel and the tube channel + graphic EQ. The RH series is a good line up of amps too, especially for the price, but like you said, not the most versatile.

Have you tried boosting your JSX with a tubescreamer to tighten up the low end?

I love the JSX, and am yet to hear a Randall that I liked - let alone liked enough to buy. If you were to sell both of those, Recto, Engl or even a Framus would be where I'd look for metal.

JJ had a Framus.. Cobra? I believe? I'm sure someone will correct me, but whatever it was it was a bad motherfucker of an amp and sounded fantastic.

RM100, hands down. The modules are stupid easy to mod, and the modding community surrounding them is fantastic. Check out the MTS forums and see what there is that's available. If you're looking for a specific tone, chances are there's a module mod for it. Hell, you can also talk to one of the modders and they will tailor a mod to fit your needs.

V2 and T2 are awesome, the V2 is about 100 times better than the JSX to my ears I have an Ultra Plus and RG75G2 now FWIW
