I got a bit of a bonus from work last month and I can finally swing some cash on a guitar and Pod again. I'd got my head set on getting another XT Pro/FBV combo as I'm very familiar with it (I've had 3 before), plus I've got all the model packs sitting dormant on my account ready to load and a lot of tones backed up to the pc.
Idly surfing Ebay over the weekend I've noticed the HD300's go for around what it'd cost to get the XT Pro and FBV, so I'm starting to wonder which to go for.
Plus points to the HD are obviously it's newer with better HD quality models, but I've never tried one in the flesh and it doesn't have a 5150 model which has been the mainstay rhythm tone I've used on the XT. It does have Uberschall and Recto models though, which have been my other main amp sims of choice. One thing I can't work out is if I could still use the model packs with the HD, though I'm guessing not.
Plus points to the XT Pro are I can leave it connected up at my desk all the time and just unplug the FBV when I'm done playing (can't leave it laying around with two youngsters around). Since the HD is a floorboard modeller I'd have to keep unplugging everything every time. Also the XT Pro has an unprocessed out for my rack tuner.
So, what to do?
HD300 all the way, no contest. The HD destroys the XT.
