Hey guys, new poster here. I've been lurking around the boards for a little while and I guess I'll introduce myself now.
I've been playing classical guitar for about 10 years before I moved on and bought my first electric. I'm now focusing a lot of my practice time on metal playing a 7 string Ibanez (cheaper, but I didn't know how'd I'd feel about it....absolutely love it though).
Anyhow, my question. I'm using a Line 6 HD300 and while it's not the BEST board, it was good for the price. I use the headphone out line with a set of Sennheiser HD650s but I just cant seem to get the greatest tone. I've tried a multitude of string sets, amp settings, board settings. I just dont know what it is. It sounds kind of muddied and think. Pinch harmonics are hard to pull off unless I'm on a channel that is too high pitched to do much else on. I've gotten a few of Olga's (Feardse's) setups for the HD series, but I dunno. Nothing I have setup screams 'rock the fuck out and have fun'. Any hints on how to set this thing up for maybe a relatively versatile sound that can be both dark and good with mids?
Any help is appreciated.
Take it easy, and great message board!
