Default Portable metal rig?

I tried one of these AMT pedals together with my Crate powerblock that's been lying around doing nothing for the past 6 months. Sounds pretty neat!
Also those pedals handle a overdrive like a charm, totally reacts like a normal preamp would.

How do you like it by the way? They're discontinued now aren't they?

They are pretty good I guess. You have to take it for what it is. A small, low price, light weight power amp. You're not going to get a tube power amp sound. But you get pretty close!

That's pretty sweet, I love the idea of a small rig. I've been playing some bass gigs with a bass head that takes up less than half the room on top of the cab, it's nice to be able to walk into a venue with my bass on my back and my head in one hand!
I've actually been thinking of picking up a 2U rack and a rocktron velocity 300 for a lighter version of my guitar rig. Those tube poweramps weigh a lot and it really sucks when stairs are involved!

Actually it would be even more awesome to show upto a gig with one of those AMT pedals and one of the EH 44 magnum pedals! EHX.com | 44 Magnum - Power Amp | Electro-Harmonix You'd get some weird looks from the sound guy but it's pretty much an amp setup with 2 pedals!

Yeah I've seen those! Looks quite cool, wonder though if they are loud enough for a gig hmmm. AMT has their own poweramp pedal, only 3 W ;/

The Magnum is pretty cool, but it breaks up a LOT by the time you're at band levels
