Default Need a cab with a tight, punchy bottom end...

Looking for a new cab. Currently using a Marshall 1960A with my 6505+ and it's just not tight enough for me. Any suggestions? Would changing the speakers help my current cab? Thanks in advance!

Mesa

Either the Stilleto or Oversized. Both are equally punchy, just a matter of where the bass is focused. What kind of sound are you going for?

Also bogner uberkab is pretty great.

Lots of great cabs out there though Soldano, Splawn, Rivera, Randall (the upper end ones), Fender EVH, etc.etc. Mesa is widely considered the standard in Heavy Music though, and not without reason.

What speakers have got got in your Marshall now, v30s or GT75s? What problem do you have with them?

Tryin to find my own sound. Haha! I guess I'm looking for something tight like Killswitch Engage, God Forbid. Right now it's got GT's in it. They just don't sound tight to me. Maybe I'm being to picky...

Well that is just about the easiest answer ever. Mesa OS Recto w/v30s. Thats the cab for you. You're in Florida so it won't be hard to find one used, sell your Marshall cab for $300-350 add ~$200 on top of that, buy a used OS. That is THE cab for the sound you are going for.

I have clips of my Stilleto!

But they won't convince anybody to buy the cab (the opposite in fact )!

But in case you were wondering what it sounds like for purposefully nasty/fizzy double (not quad) tracked death metal.....

Trying to replicate the sounds of shitty death metal made with shitty gear on non shitty (and occasionally cork sniffer!) gear. The Rogueleader way.

Ryan: That's WTF I'm talking about! Nice!

Rogueleader: Thanks! That's the direction I was headed in. I'm in the Tampa Bay area and they do pop up on Craigslist occasionally. Normally they're beat to shit and they want crazy money. When I say beat to shit, I mean stucturely. The last one I checked out actually had soft spots in the wood. I don't know how they managed that one. Haha.
